Wide stiles and rails are designed with thick walls and multi-chambers that add strength and increase thermal performance. For maximum efficiency we include full perimeter, high performance weatherstripping and custom-fit interlock system to provide extra protection against air infiltration for enhanced energy performance. Our doors glide on over-sized tandem steel rollers and provide smooth and effortless operation. A heavy duty vinyl sill with a stainless steel roller guide delivers superior strength, resists frost and condensation. Our heavy-duty locking system is standard or for optimum security choose our optional dual point lock and/or our optional footbolt lock which has a vent latch position. As with all Great Lakes Window products it includes the Lifetime Limited Transferable warranty. Several standard sizes are available as well as custom sizes.

First of all, every 7/8″ insulated glass unit uses Warm-edge Intercept spacers. Warm-edge intercept is one continuous piece creating a stronger, more energy-efficient insulated glass unit. Plus it flexes with glass expansion and contraction to ensure a strong seal for the life of the window. The Grandview window offers 4 levels of insulated glass ranging from dual pane clear glass without Argon gas to triple pane glass with 2 layers of soft coat LowE with Argon fill. All of our glass units, with the exception of the clear glass option are Energy Star approved.

Does Great Lakes Window insulate their frames?

The vinyl mainframes and sash of our Grandview 5000 vinyl windows are filled with patented R-Core (pre-expanded high-density solid-polyurethane insulation), the same type used in many refrigerator/freezer doors. It prevents voids and settling and results in even distribution of the maximum insulating barrier.

Does Great Lakes Window fusion weld their frames and sashes?

The Grandview series window by Great Lakes Window has entirely fusion welded sashes and mainframes. This creates a solid, one-piece unit that maintains its strength over the years. Our state-of-the-art pinch fusion-welding process ensures frame and sash corners won’t have the excess variance found with other welding techniques. This process also insures a clean and natural look on our windows with optional woodgrain interiors.

Does replacing my windows require changing the existing interior woodwork?

Vinyl replacement windows are custom made to the 1/8″ in width and height for a perfect fit into the old window opening. If the installation is done from the outside, as we do, the interior moldings are left untouched in most cases. And because the windows are solid color vinyl or high quality thermofused vinyl woodgrain no staining is required. But if desired we can replace interior moldings and even provide prefinished products to eliminate time consuming staining.

Great Lakes Windows have received the ENERGY STAR label for energy efficiency from the EPA/DOE. They have also received the HALLMARK designation from the Window and Door Manufacturers Association. HALLMARK is acheived by meeting the associations guidelines for wind and water infiltration and also structural integrity.
